Lutheran Men in Mission

Dudes:

This is a personal invitation to become involved with LMM. Involvement is simple; just show up for one (or more) of the events!  Any guy can do that, right?!  Last year we had a lot of guys “man up” and help with the special dinners and events we hosted.  Thank you!  Our hope and prayer is that when the invitation is extended again that you will come and serve beside us!

We also encourage you to give our B.S. Sessions a shot.  Take them for a test drive, kick the tires and see if it’s a great vehicle for you like it is for us!   One member, Gary Lester says it best: “It boils down to this; being with older guys who have “seen it all” is an extremely valuable experience. I was blessed with the mentoring I have received and continue to receive here both formally and informally. Sharing troubles and triumphs with peers is great, too. Being there for the younger guys is a rewarding as it gets. I guess every contact with other guys becomes a learning experience if we’re open to it.”

So, guys of all ages, please come and share what some of us have come to appreciate as an invaluable, awesome experience. This is a superior example of fellowship… and the stories and food ain’t bad either!

OUR HISTORY:

First Lutheran Church has had a Men’s group for over a 100 years!  In years past, it was known as “The Brotherhood”; now it’s the Lutheran Men in Mission.

Our goals (we like to keep things simple):

  • To grow in our faith in God and in our love for others through Bible Study and Prayer
  • To serve our congregation by providing social events for our church family.
  • To informally mentor younger men and boys in the church
  • To reach out beyond our church walls to help support the growth and mission of the church at large.
LMM meets the third Tuesday of the month at 7:03 p.m.  We are usually busy serving our church family and community or participating in a Bible Study.  Add this to a lot of humor and great fellowship and you get a pretty good idea of who we are and what we do!  Below is a schedule of our 2011 season!  We hope you can join us!

Tuesday, Jan. 18:  B.S. (Bible Study) Session at 7:03 p.m.

Tuesday, February 15th:

Dessert Night for FLC.  Come and share some goodies with us at 7:03 p.m.  Who knows there may even be some “talent” (and we use that word VERY loosely) there!

Tuesday, March 8:

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

Come and taste the awesome flapjacks whose recipe has been handed down from generation to generation since the last millennium!  This dinner will be open to the community and a free will offering will support the LMM Scholarship Fund for Gettysburg seminarians.  Continuous seating will be available between 5:02 – 6:39 p.m.  Invite your friends!
