The Alleluia Program is an exciting design for effective Christian Education in the local church. It is a Wednesday after-school program of Christian nurture for elementary, middle and high school age young people that meets September - the week before Ash Wednesday. The program includes four parts, all essentially interrelated: Bible class, dinner, worship/music, and recreation/crafts (not necessarily in that order).
The Alleluia Program provides all the dynamics of a camp/conference experience each week at church, in relationship with adult Christians of the congregation. It quickly becomes the keystone of a genuinely effective, contagious, church-centered youth program. As part of this church family’s program of confirmation ministry, it provides an unparalleled vehicle for Christian education during the weekday hours, spreading the experience over a several hour time span.

THE PURPOSE OF THE ALLELUIA PROGRAM
· To develop in each child a growing awareness of Christ’s presence in their lives and to provide a setting wherein faith is nurtured and God’s love, mercy and forgiveness is experienced through relationships with other children, their pastor and adult Christians in the congregation.
· To provide worthwhile study of the Christian faith, wholesome recreation and opportunities for service, all bound up in true Christian fellowship
· To emphasize worship as the time when God is present with His people through Word and Sacrament and to encourage weekly participation in worship—both at TAP and on Sunday mornings.
· To raise up active, Biblically-literate and theologically informed adults who are able to communicate their faith and become responsible members of the Body of Christ, the church.
· To provide opportunities for Christian service among the people of God in this church family and to serve others as Christ’s servants in the local community and in the world.
· To create long-lasting, personal relationships between people of all ages that will continue throughout the years—to build a Christian community.
Because we know the parent(s) are the main example of their child(ren)'s faith formation, we expect them and/or their sponsors to serve on the TAP staff at least once a month. This truly is a family ministry!
